As with all coastal regions, the Magdalen Islands is suffering from the almost constant buffering of the wind and the waves from off the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The aerial link between the regional airports in Mont-Joli and on the Magdalen Islands which had been interrupted in June 2009 may start up again this winter.
